MMH Receives Baby Boxes to Reduce SIDS

Midland Memorial Hospital is proud to become one of the first hospitals in West Texas to be a designated Baby Box Co. distribution center. Baby Everly of Odessa, TX was the first baby at MMH to receive a Baby Box.
 
The purpose of these boxes is to educate new parents on safe sleep practices and to provide infants with a safe sleep space in an effort to reduce SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Baby Boxes can be used for the baby's first five to six months of life and are to be placed either on the floor next to the bed, or safely on the bed.

The Midland Development Corporation along with the City of Midland Celebrate the Completion of Briarwood Avenue Road Improvements

May 9, 2017 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) is pleased to have been a contributor to the improvements and widening of Briarwood Avenue between Holiday Hill Road and Avalon Drive.

The initial contract of $8.62 million was awarded to the sole bidder of the project, Jones Brothers Dirt and Paving, and the professional services related to design work of Phases II and III was contracted with Parkhill, Smith and Cooper. The project was funded by the City of Midland and the MDC.

The Midland Development Corporation Partners with the City of Midland and TxDOT to enhance safety and improve access on Loop 250 at County Road 1150

May 1, 2017 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) approved an Advance Funding Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for a highway safety improvement project.

The project will construct main lanes and interchanges at the intersection of Loop 250 and County Road 1150 to convert non-freeway to freeway.

The MDC will contribute $2 million to assist TxDOT with the completion of the project.

The Midland Development Corporation Holds a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Completed LeoLabs Midland Space Radar

April 18, 2017 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) and LeoLabs, Inc., celebrate the completion of the Midland Space Radar facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Construction of the Midland Space Radar began in September 2016 and was completed in February 2017.

The Midland Development Corporation Supports the Physician Recruitment at Midland Memorial Hospital

April 3, 2017 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) offers continued support to the Midland Memorial Hospital to recruit physicians to Midland. A strategic plan has been put into motion to fill specialty and general practitioner healthcare gaps that currently exist in the Midland community.

The MDC and Midland Memorial Hospital are two years into an initial agreement that would reimburse the hospital for its expenses associated with physician recruitment in an amount up to $450,000 in 2017.
