Midland International Air & Space Port Receives Dream Chaser® Spacecraft Compatible Landing Site Designation

Midland, Texas (Nov. 3, 2016) – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and the Midland Development Corporation (MDC) today announce that Midland International Air & Space Port is now considered a compatible landing site for SNC’s Dream Chaser spacecraft. Midland International Air & Space Port, located in Midland, Texas, has successfully completed the compatibility portion of the Dream Chaser Landing Site Designation process, which is the first step toward becoming an approved landing site for Dream Chaser spacecraft landings.

The City of Midland and the Midland Development Corporation Announce Agreement with LeoLabs, Inc.

September 13, 2016 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland City Council and the Midland Development Corporation (MDC) approved two agreements with LeoLabs, Inc., a company offering space debris tracking services.

The city of Midland has executed a License Agreement regarding city-owned property for the use of LeoLabs.

The MDC has entered into a promotional agreement with LeoLabs, Inc., which will include advertising and publicizing for the City of Midland for the purpose of developing new and expanded business enterprises.

Midland Development Corporation Announces Agreement with UTPB for Aerospace Engineering Program

January 12, 2016 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) and The Midland City Council approved an agreement wherein the MDC will fund The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) for the research and development of a concentration in aeronautical engineering.

Midland Development Corporation and Midland Country Announce Tenaris New Service Center

November 3, 2015 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation and the Midland City Council have approved an economic development agreement with Tenaris to establish a service center for the storage, inspection and preparation for the running of steel tubular goods for the energy sector. Tenaris has committed to new annual payroll of $3.3 million and $36 million in new capital investment by December 31, 2020. 

Midland Development Corporation Receives Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council

Midland Development Corporation received a Gold Excellence in Economic Development Award for its 2015 project in the category of Special Purpose Print Brochure for communities with populations of 25,000-200,000 from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

The honor was presented at an awards ceremony on Monday, October 5, during the 2015 IEDC Annual Conference, which was held October 4-7, in Anchorage, Alaska.
