What started several years ago as a prototype made of PVC pipe and chicken wire has become reality, thanks to a bit of help from the Midland Development Corp. and the city of Midland.

A small ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at the MDC offices to officially celebrate the completion of LeoLabs’ Midland Space Radar, located on city-owned property in Winkler County known as the T-Bar Ranch.

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin will get $5 million from the Midland Development Corp. to help fill out the third floor of its yet-to-be-constructed engineering building at its Midland campus.

President David Watts was on hand as the Midland City Council unanimously approved the deal that will help build out classrooms, laboratories and associated facilities for the home of the school’s future chemical and electrical engineering departments.

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - With the help of the Midland Development Corporation, Midland Memorial Hospital has been able to bring more physicians to Midland over the past two years.

The MDC and the hospital are currently in a five year agreement where the MDC reimburses the hospital for its expenses associated with physician recruitment in an amount up to $450,000 in 2017.

The financial support from MDC is helping the hospital in a big way.

March 29, 2017 (Midland, Texas) – The Midland Development Corporation (MDC) approved an Interlocal Agreement with the University of Texas of the Permian Basin by and through its Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for an amount not to exceed $264,000 for the Midland Entrepreneurial Challenge, to be operated and managed by America’s SBDC, located at the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification (CEED).

Completion of the east end of Loop 250 got one step closer to realization Monday after the Midland Development Corp. approved unanimously to aid the project. Plus, work on improving State Highway 349 became more likely.

The MDC will pledge $2 million for the completion of a curvilinear overpass at Loop 250 and county roads 1150 and 60, a complicated project slated to cost $21.5 million.
